Back to School Vision Health

VIRTUAL EDITION.png

Although there are many questions and concerns about what school is going to look like this year, one thing is certain - your child's SCREEN TIME is going to increase. This is not necessarily good for our children's health and children often do not speak up about vision trouble as they may not realize it is anything out of the ordinary. Here are some things you may want to know as a parent:

  • BAD NEWS: More SCREEN TIME means your child may start to feel negative effects from the blue light emitted by computers and phones. For example, eye strain, headaches, blurred vision, and trouble sleeping.

  • GOOD NEWS: We are fully stocked with BlueTech Lenses which are clinically proven to improve contrast, clarity, comfort and night vision as well as improve quality of sleep! Learn more!

  • BAD NEWS: Since our children may not be in a typical classroom where they are looking at a blackboard, they may not realize they cannot see far away. Because of this myopia or nearsightedness may be overlooked.

  • GOOD NEWS: We are certified to treat myopia (nearsightedness) progression in children through CooperVision’s Brilliant Futures™ Myopia Management Program. Learn more!

While we lay out how important it is for your student to have their yearly exam, we understand the anxiety you may have about visiting our offices during the current pandemic. We want to assure you that we are taking every precaution to make our offices as safe and comfortable as possible.

We have been open for the last 3 months with our newly instituted safety measures and continue to upgrade and make adjustments in-line with the latest research and science.
